She was having none of it. Unfortunately. This, despite the formula outlined on the Sumolounge site:
Omni = chair + lounge + loveseat + floor pillow
However, this midnight blue beast had me intrigued. Could it have benefits in terms of ergonomics? What about helping improve posture or alleviate backache? I wasn’t sure. Andrew tells me a chiropractor evaluated them for him, but he didn’t have the final report, so couldn’t say.
What I can say is they are comfortable if a bit sweaty at points where bare skin comes into contact with the “hard-wearing, wipe-clean” surface.
But, more than that…apply only slow manipulations to the Sumo and it moves almost like a liquid. Give it more of a shove though and it hardens up almost instantaneously, almost like cornstarch mixed with water, or non-drip paint…could it be that the Sumo Omni behaves as a bulk thixotropic material? Who knows? It’s basically a nylon bag full of eighth-inch polystyrene balls. You go figure…and while you do, watch the nice lady playing with her fiery red Sumo.
I love bean bag chairs and yes, they do provide better support because they do shift and form to the body. Much more comfortable than any couch or chair I’ve ever relaxed in.
