Lose Stomach Fat, Get Six Pack Abs

Here are the top five myths about losing stomach fat and getting that six-pack look the media tells us we are supposed to aim for. Of course, in some societies, and throughout history, being nicely rounded has actually been considered more attractive and a sign of health, than having “toned” muscles and a size zero attitude to body fat.

  1. Many so-called “health foods” are actually cleverly disguised junk foods that can actually stimulate you to gain more belly fat… yet the diet food marketing industry continues to lie to you so they can maximize their profits.
  2. Ab exercises such as crunches, sit-ups, and ab machines are actually the LEAST effective method of getting flat six pack abs.
  3. Repetitive cardiovascular (CV) exercise routines are NOT the best way to lose body fat and uncover those six pack abs.
  4. Extreme fat burner pills do NOT work.
  5. Ab belts, ab-rockers, ab-loungers, and other ab-gimmicks…are a waste of time and money.

So take heed if you’re hoping to lose stomach fat.

  1. I’m a Science loving nerd now but i was a state champ Gymnast in my teens and i’m still fairly fit so heres what i know. Most of this is commen scence but you need to hear it and the explanation to get it.

    1. There are several ways to ‘get 6 pak abs’.
        – Loose fat to show existing muscle throught the skin
        – Build up muscle to make them larger
        – Improve your diet so you are healthier and not storing fat on your mid section

    2. You cant loose weight by sitting still.
    well.. you could if you were tied to a chair with nothng to eat like in a torture movie, but in real life, you have to move. All the best movers seem to be skinny people, have you noticed this? Figety people and those who use their hands alot (masuers?) use more calories by constant movement of lots of small muscles all the time. Marathon runners, swimmers, any kind of movement burnes calories. You can burn heaps of calories in front of the TV by rotating (till it hurts) your wrists or your ankles. Dumbells are great and dont just do some, do it all the time and not just in the usuall way, try and make it interesting. Try 1 per second till the commertial break has finished. Go for a walk to the local shops instead of driving. Do the coffee run at work and use the stairs, your co-workers will like you and you will get a break.

    3. Streach till it hurts.
    The girls (mostly) who go to the pilates or yoga are’nt doing heaps of weights or spending a long time huffing and puffing, cause what they are doing is easy once you see someone do it. Its a form of streaching, and they are soo skinny. Yes they probably eat nothing but carrots for lunch, but you could do a bit of streaching and get thinner because if it. Proper streaching involves pushing the limits of your current movement but only by a bit and heres where the pain comes in. Your not suposed to break yourself and be able to do back flips in the first week. The usual progression is 5% more per week if you do it every day for 10 min. So, try a 5 min stretch after the shower when you are warm and dont push it too hard. The best results come by moving till it starts hurting and hold for a bit then easing off. Never push it too hard as a snapped ligament might not get better and then you will never get thin. Slow but steady streatches, held for a bit and eased off are the best. Why does it work I hear you ask?! It alows for muscles to move more and helps with blood and fluid flow around the body. It also stops you from getting injured if you decide to actually do excercise, which is my next point..

    4. Sweating is good for you
    …unless your taking a polygraph. Sweat is a sign that your body is hot and if your doing excercise and drinking lots of water to replace it, this is a good thing. Even hot baths and saunas are good for sweating with little exercise involved. It is also very good for the skin. The Norse culture has a health practice of having a sauna and whipping themselves with pine swatches and then going and rolling in the snow. This is supposed to stimulate circulation and start a reaction from the bodies immune response against colds. You dont have to go to such lengths but sweating does definately unblock pores in the skin. The best way to sweat is to get the body temperature up and keep it up, and the heathiest way to do that is to excercise. Running is good if your fit already, I think bicycling is beter as its lower impact on the legs. Swimming is good allround cardio excercise but its hard to sweat underwater. If there was a bike machine powering a games machine i think alot of us would be alot fitter.

    5. Your diet feeds your body and therefore your mind and therefore your will.
    This means that if you eat junk, your body will feel terible and your brain will lack neutrients and you wont have the will to exercise let alone get up off the couch. I still think diet drinks are terible but if it is instead of a beer or a tub of icecream then then the better of two weavles as Captain Cook used to say. If you are on a poor diet, switching to a high protein and carb diet straight away will hert your insides. You will have bad gas, and headaches from the chemical reactions going on inside your gut. Live cuture products like active yogurts and drinks will help your poor tummy and a gradual change will help also. Try to decrease the size of your normal meal or even have the same meat just eat more vegetables befor you eat your meat. Vitamin pills do work if you are low in the vitamins you are taking, but they wont turn you into superman like the commertials show. I found lots of small meals work better for the body that just the 3 meals we are supposed to be getting. Snacking on Nuts, fruit and in winter – quick microwaved vegies and pasta with tomatoe paste is an excelent pick me up during the day. Coffee drives water out of the system and so you will get a buzz in the short term but by lunch you will have a fuzzy head from dehydration. 1 litre (2 pints, or 4 cups) of water extra have to be drunk to combat the affects of 1 cup of coffee. I’m not saying dont take it, i’m just saying drink more water to make up for it, you will think clearer and make better decisions and more of them. Tea is a better option as it has some caffeen but also more water and some anti oxidants which are healthy for you. Microwaved vegies might taste bland by them selves but i didn’t say you couldnt put salt and pepper on them. Spices have virtually no calories and make food taste great. There is a reason that high fat foods taste so good, its because fat reacts in the brain the same as cafeen and some drugs do. You can get addicted to certain foods most of which are fattening. To combat this get a spray bottle and put some thin vegetable oil in it to spray on foods. I say thin because it will spray out the nozzle and not get it clogged, and because it is also the sort that will not go solid when put in the fridge, and this is a good sign it is healthy. Ask at the heath food store, they might already have something like this, and not just olive oil. I say why fight the bodies cravings when you can make them work for you. The best oil has omega 3 and 6 in it and very little saturated fats. Your food will taste better but you wont be absorbing harmful fats, you will be getting good oils. Alcohol also dehydrates the body, drink heaps of water the next day if you go out drinking with your mates. It also makes you less co-ordinated and more likely to injure yourelf.

    6. You cant get `Abs’ without the rest.
    By `the rest’ I mean, the back, the chest, the arms, the legs etc. As the old song goes..the knee bone is connected to the leg bone, and the leg bone is connected to the hip bone , and the.. you get the point. You cant get the 6 pack and only the 6 pack, do not pass go and do not collect 200 dollars. If you look at the body pick of well sculpted sports people or body builders then you will notice that they in fact have more than 6! they have an 8 pack or even a 12 pack, there are so many muscles it looks like a bag of marbles. So why limit yourself to just going for bronze when you can have more. If you do the streaching the muscles will be able to do longer and harder exercise and recover faster, If you eat right you can be fit enough befor long to be exercising a little every day. If you sweat, your skin will look good and muscles look better under good looking skin.  Do an equal number of back arch raises as sit ups, a stronger back means you can get a tighter bid section which accentuates the abdominal musles. One of the best exercises for the abs is the virticle crunch which you can do in an office chair., and it works on the arms as well.

    7. I dont have a book or sell anything.
    So there is no incentive to do any of this.BUT, I am healthy and I have noticed girls do like healthy.  There have been heaps of smarter guys at my work and even better looking, but nothing gets persons of the female persuasion going beter that both brains and braun. If your a woman the same is true. Just look at the pin up girls that the men you like post up. They are strong and smart characters like Lara Croft or Abigail Whistler from Blade, or Ripley from Aliens or sarah Connor or even that girl from Serenity. Shes a bit psycho buy still smart and dextrous in a distrubing way.
