From Ananova comes a report about a new device called the Plasma Taser (PT). A conventional Taser fires a pair of darts connected to lightweight cables which deliver a 50,000 volt electric shock. In contrast, the PT can fire repeated shots over longer distances without the use of wires. It fires an aerosol spray towards its target, creating a conductive path for an electric current. The weapon causes “pain and spasms,” with victims stunned from having their nervous systems temporarily overloaded. It’s under development by Rheinmetall W&M in Ratingen, Germany. And if a plasma taser handgun doesn’t pack the punch you need, there’s always the Taser Cannon…

This reminds me of an SF story many years ago, where a revolt began against oppressors. Starting, naturally, against the “guards” on patrol. Many of the guards were taken down during the first wave with what looked like kids shooting water pistols at each other…until they pointed them at all the guards, pulled the trigger on the two side-by-side water pistols and pressed the switch to send high voltage out one stream and back on the other.
what anonamouse hero said about water pistols firing electricity along the strams of water is intresting. i reckon that this could be used to create a new type of taser. if someone could get enough water pressure so that the streams flowed more of less straight you could make a hugely powerfull long distance taser that you could fire over and over and over as long as you had enough power and water.
